D's turn..

So tonight was D's parent teacher conference...(and if any of you know D you know what a sweet fantastic kid he is) First I would like to say in D's complete defense.. his teacher is sorta weird. She has no personality, I even tried to make a joke and she didn't even crack a smile. She never sends homework home and dosent communicate with me very well. Okay, back to the meeting...When I get there, she is going through a students desk, pulling papers out and setting them aside. I walk by the deak and see it is D's desk.. what is she pulling out? Well, it turns out D never hands the worksheets in after he is done with them (these are in class assignments, not homework) she found 7 worksheet he had not handed in... what? I can see not bringing homework back to school... but in class? Secondly she tells me he is behind in reading, a whole grade level!! WHAT?! Are we not on the end slope of the school year? She can't call or send a note home to me? I am VERY concerned! He dosent like to read, I get that, I know lots of people who don't like to read, but him being behind will make is dislike of reading worse! I am so upset! Anyone have any ideas I can do at home with him? Of course he dosent act out and is very kind to others in his class, I would have expected that much from D he is a really great boy!
