Yesterday, we said goodbye to my dear sweet grandma Reid. I was asked to speak on behalf of the grandchildren. I hope I did a good representation.
This was my talk:
This was my talk:
You may have called her Dorothy, or Aunt Dot, Mom, or Sis Reid. To me and 11 others, she was grandma. She was:
Storybook grandma
Singing grandma. She had a song for every occasion, loved to sing and we loved her to sing. Rocking and singing to our babies, her great grandchildren.
Birthday spanking grandma, she had her own unique birthday spanking
Save the bows from the wrapping paper grandma
Arctic circle grandma
Mint Chocolate chip ice cream and vanilla wafers grandma
Slow and steady meal eating grandma
Drink all the milk from your cereal grandma
BYU sports analyst and commentator grandma
Cherry eating, and parade watching grandma.
Christmas Eve grandma
Very slowly unwrapping present’s grandma.VERY SLOWLY
Pickled beets and green bean grandma
Against a crooked sky, the Apple Dumpling gang and Mr. Kroger’s Christmas grandma
Sit down and talk to us while we ate apple jack for breakfast grandma

Grandma was our biggest cheerleader. Always in the stands at ballgames, coming early for dance recitals, baptisms, graduations and any milestone that was of importance she was there or made the effort for us to know she was proud. She never forgot a birthday, a nice card written in her perfect handwriting or a phone call with a beautiful rendition of happy birthday.
The last 10 months, I had the privilege of spending more time with her, Getting together with her every Tuesday morning. I would help her get ready for the week. One day after I had returned from doing some shopping she said “Remind me to have you get some Mennen’s skin bracer aftershave for me next time you go". “Aftershave grandma?" "Oh yes, It may smell like a man, but it sure makes me feel like a good lady.”
I’m glad to know of the plan of happiness that she is with my grandpa and loving every minute of it. There is a tremendous amount of peace that I feel knowing I will see her again. I am thankful for the atonement and the opportunity we all have to feel the blessings and promises it provides.
Say these things same of Jesus Christ Amen.
We will all miss her! We had Thanksgiving with my mom's entire side of the family, I for sure felt a void.
She worked at the Y for many years, they sent this over to the funeral home.

Jenni... what a beautiful talk and remembrance of your sweet grandma. It was wonderfully worded. The aftershave killed me.... and the last paragraph was just perfect.
You did a terrific job. Many people have told me what a great talk you gave. Grandma, I'm sure, was proud. Thanks for posting the pictures. Love you
Thank you for sharing your memories, and your love for your grandmother.
